Trail information

 Linear

This is a route of almost 8 km where the Xacobean Cultural Itinerary crosses our municipality.

Among the traditional Xacobean pilgrimage routes to Compostela, one of the most famous is known as the Portuguese Camino, which starts in Lisbon, although nowadays the principal points of departure are Porto and Tui.

Almost on the last stretch, the route enters the municipality in Francos, in the parish of Calo and passes through important settlements, such as A Rúa de Francos, Osebe, A Casalonga, A Pedreira… to leave through As Galanas, close to the neighbouring town of Milladoiro. At the start of this route is the pilgrims’ hostel.

Along the way, we find highly relevant heritage elements, such as washhouses, fountains, and stone crosses, including the Stone Cross in Francos, the oldest in the Municipality. It also runs through the Carballeira de Francos, where every 11 November, the San Martiño fair is held, which is of enormous tourist and cultural relevance for the region.

The trail is signposted and has interpretive signage.
