A megalithic necropolis comprising 33 burial mounds located in Loureiro, in the parish of Luou. Formed by small granite peaks of this small mountainous ridge located in the south of the Municipality of Teo between the parishes of Luou, Rarís and Lampai and on the natural boundary that divides the valley of Ulla and the valley of the Sar, which separates the regions of Compostela and Sar. Hidden there is of the most important archaeological areas in Galicia and, undoubtedly, the most important of the region of Compostela. Close to the village of Loureiro there are nine stations of petroglyphs arranged in the immediate contour and bordering a megalithic necropolis formed by thirty-three tumuli. Among the different stations of petroglyphs, we can highlight the sites of O Meau, Fondao, and Trono de la Reina, but particularly the rock called “Piedra Bicuda de Loureiro”. This is the largest and best-preserved station in the Municipality, consisting of at least eight circular combinations, one of them being among the largest in the province of A Coruña, and at least four zoomorphs located in the peripheral area of the slab. Piquiño is also a legendary place among the inhabitants of Luou who speak of the existence of ancient “Eiras de Mouros”. Elements that go to make up the Municipality of Teo’s rich intangible heritage.
