The Battle of Cacheiras Trail, which commemorates the events of 23 April 1846, runs from Bamonde to the summit of Montouto and aims to replicate the route that some of General La Concha’s troops followed on the night of 23 April 1846 to face the rebel army led by General Solís in the famous battle.  Paths full of history, culture, beautiful landscapes and popular architecture that cross the parishes of Bamonde, Oza and Cacheiras.

It is a linear route that starts alongside the Rectory in Bamonde and ends at the summit of Montouto. Important heritage features along the route include churches, stone crosses and traditional rural settlements, but also natural elements of great beauty, such as waterfall on the River Santa Lucía as it passes through Recobio, as well as the viewpoint of Montouto.

The trail is well signposted (in both directions) and it also has signage for the most important heritage elements along the route.
