A place of outstanding historical relevance and a natural viewpoint where, on the clear winter days, the snowy peaks of the mountains of Ourense can be made out.
At an altitude of 339 metres, this spot enjoys an exceptional range of views. It is well signposted and has panels for interpreting the scene.
From the top there is a panoramic view over the city of Santiago de Compostela, the valley of the River Santa Lucia and the middle Ulla valley and, in the background, a fine view of the Pico Sacro. This summit marks the end the Battle of Cacheiras Trail, the linear trail that begins at the Rectory in Bamonde and runs along the paths where the troops of General La Concha advanced to confront the rebel army commanded by General Solís, this site being where the most ferocious battle took place, on 23 April 1846.
Among the crags here is one known as the Pena Escorredía, a huge granite outcrop with a steep slope on one of its sides which has been used as a slide since time immemorial by the residents of the surrounding areas, resulting in a smooth, worn area due to friction. It can be accessed on foot via forest dirt tracks or by car along the asphalted road of the same name. The last 10 metres can only be done on foot.
