Baroque in style, it was constructed by Master Manuel Varela between 1783 - 1787, and was open for worship in 1785.

The doorway of the façade is finished in a vaulted arch. Above it is a niche with a stone image of the virgin in prayerful pose wearing a curious mantle decorated with scales. Above this is a square window that illuminate the interior of the nave, and in the side aisles there are two medallions with anagrams of Christ and the Virgin.

The façade is finished with a double-bodied bell tower. The interior houses 3 bells: the smallest must have come from the old church, and the largest was made by Francisco Blanco de Santiago, both being installed in 1788. The intermediate one was made some years later, in 1829 There are a number of images from the earlier church, a silver processional cross from 1615, two small altars and a blazoned tombstone from 1694 of the priest Pedro García Vilariño, rector of Bamonde and Commissary of the Holy Inquisition, located in the floor of the north chapel.

The stone cross in the atrium was constructed in 1786. Baroque in design, it features an image of St. Peter on his pole.
