Steel walkway located in the Couso fishing preserve. Built in 1960, the Xirimbao walkway is called “Pasarela Mariola” owing to the engineer, Darque. The bridge, one of the longest and highest in Galicia, links the parishes of Couso, in A Estrada and Reis, in Teo.
This engineer was sent by the ministry in the 1960s to undertake the improvement and maintenance of the Couso preserve, between A Estrada and Teo; it stretches 800 metres along the River Ulla between the Couso Dam and 100 metres downstream of Piedra Fernández on the lower boundary. The new improvements to the fishing preserve included the construction of this walkway, which was named in honour of a relative of his called Mariola Paves Curbelo.
It can be visited (following the safety measures duly indicated in the information panels at the entrance) as it is currently open all year round.
