Place of visit since time immemorial owing to the presence of sulphurous waters used for skin treatments.

A Burga de Xermeade is a sulphurous water spring that has a semi-circular stone construction and a spout from which the water emanates. Located alongside the River Ulla and in a delightful setting with oaks, cork oaks, hawthorns, chestnut trees, pine trees, and the typical trees of the riverside (birch, alder, willow and ash trees). It is included in the protected bank of the River Ulla as part of the Natura 2000 network. There is a leisure area formed by a small cobbled square, 13.90 m in diameter, surrounded by seven stone benches with backrests located around a group of ancient oaks.

The Burga fountain, or A Burga de Xermeade, has been used by the residents of Pontevea since time immemorial, mainly as a treatment for various skin complaints, such as cold sores, eczema, dandruff, warts or rashes; and probably even by the Romans, since the XIX Roman road that connected Braga with Lugo passed just few metres away. There are numerous documents testifying to the importance of the A Burga as a reference point for tourism and thermal baths throughout history.

Next to the Burga, in a ruinous state, are the remains of an old bathhouse, built by a private individual who claimed the land, but it was never finished as the courts ruled on a lawsuit, granting the ownership of A Burga to the villagers.
