This trail, which follows a traditional fisherman’s route, runs along the banks of the River Ulla, from the O Xirimbao Recreational Area to the Mediaeval Bridge in Pontevea.  

It is a linear trail that can be walked in either direction, starting in the village of Pontevea. The entire trail lies within the Natura 2000 protected area recognised by the European Union for its unique biodiversity. 

The main attraction of this trail is the ecological community shaped by the presence of the River Ulla: a well-preserved river forest that is home to emblematic species such as the otter. Also worthy of note in the area close to O Xirimbao are the ‘pesqueiras’, traditional constructions for lamprey fishing. 

For those who want a longer route, this trail can be continued with the A Burga de Xermeade Recreational Trail, and with the trail running to Agromaior.
