Now in disuse, Faramello Tunnel was built for the first railway of our country.

According to the chronicles in the ‘Compostelano’, on September 15, 1873 our country’s first railway arrived at the station of Osebe in Teo. Starting in Cormes, back then in the municipality of Conxo, with the final destination in Carril, it linked Santiago with the sea through the Maía Valley, and placed Teo as a reference that defined the historical development of our town council. It was the gateway for emigrants and also the agricultural surplus.

With a length of 133 metres, this tunnel, built between 1870 and 1872, is currently in disuse, although alongside the new high speed railway track. It is part of the Faramello Tunnel Trail, a circular trail departing from the Stone Cross in Francos, which aim to present this piece of our municipality’s history.
