Fountain and traditional washhouse located in the settlement of A Casalonga which, over the years, has served as a meeting place of the villagers.
The fountain in A Casalonga was constructed in the 1930s. The washhouse was built in 1953, along with 11 others scattered throughout the municipality thanks to a subsidy from the Civil Government. In 1984 the Town Council answered a request from the villagers and installed the roof. The latest action was in 2017 when it was refurbished and the roof removed.
This type of infrastructure was very important in the past, before the water supply was brought to the houses. They were a place for collecting water, a task carried out essentially by women, who with cauldrons or buckets, would carry water several times a day for both people and animals. Currently, the tradition of water collection is maintained and it is still a meeting place for the villagers.
