Next to the stone cross and oak grove in Francos, and on the route of the Portuguese Camino, this building is typical of the primary schools constructed during the Republic. Now converted into a Casa Común (Community Centre), used for the Town Council’s socio-cultural activities, the school used to be a mixed school, where an average of 30 girls and boys studied, with accommodation for the teacher on the floor above.

The decommissioning for educational use of old school of Francos, which was one of the Rural Grouped Schools, was approved by the Regional Ministry of Education in June 2013, and its use for sociocultural activities was approved the following year.
