Heritage ensemble alongside the Carballeira do San Martiño and on the route of the Portuguese Camino.

Also known as the Hermitage of San Martiño (Francos), it is a small chapel with an area of around 180 m2 of sober design made with masonry and stonework.  The date of its construction is unknown, although it is already mentioned in documents dating back to 1775. Inside, worthy of note is a huge sea shell, of the genus “tridacna”, which is used as a holy water font. It was donated in 1790 by the married couple, Pedro Lobato and Alberta Ameneiro, according to the inscription that accompanies it.

Opposite the chapel is a baroque stone cross, quadrangular capitel, high octagonal shaft on the two-step platform and pedestal, finished with a cross with two images: a Christ on the cross, and a virgin at prayer.

With strong links with the Portuguese Camino, pilgrims can have their credentials stamped in this chapel.
